What Travis Barker did before proposing to Kourtney Kardashian

 

American musician, Travis Barker went to the grave of his fiancé Kourtney Kardashian’s father to ask for permission to marry her.

This was revealed during Thursday’s episode of the Hulu series The Kardashians. The episode also showed the moment when he called Kris Jenner, to ask for permission to marry her 43-year-old daughter.

Kris recounted the phone call with Kim, revealing that Travis had gone out of his way to also ask Kourtney and Kim’s late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., for his blessing. She said,

“He asked for her hand in marriage, and I was like, literally, I want to cry now. It was so sweet and so tender. And then he said he went to your dad’s grave and asked your dad, and I just lost it. It’s all happy, I just wish your dad was here to see it. I can hardly believe that it’s the first time that she’s getting married.”

Replying, Kim said, “That’s really crazy that she hasn’t been married before. While I’ve had enough for all of us!”

Kardashian Sr. died at age 59 on Sept. 30, 2003, less than eight weeks after he was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He shared Kim and Kourtney, Khloé and Rob Kardashian Jr. with Kris.

‘Many Husbands Have Abused The Word’ - Apostle Folorunsho Alakija explains what submission is and is not.

 

Submission has been a source of heated debates, discussions, and outright arguments among spouses and defenders of the sacred marriage institution.


Apostle Folorunsho Alakija, a Nigerian millionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist, addressed the controversial matter in a recent talk in her house of worship, instructing couples on what submission is and is not.


Mrs. Alakija, who has been married to her husband for almost 40 years, believes that many husbands have misinterpreted Ephesians 5:22 and exploited it to control their wives.


She went on to say that these men have decided to ignore verses 21 and 25, which instruct husbands to "love their wives as Christ loves the Church" and couples to "submit to one another."

She explained further:

“We find that husbands don’t want to concern themselves with verse 21 which says submit to one another but they chose to camp with wife submit to your husbands. But they didn’t go further down to go and read verses 25 and 26 which tell husbands more about what they are supposed to do.

You find that Verse 21 was shorter but many have chosen to ignore it. There have been many arguments for and against, many controversies about this word submission.

Many have twisted it to suit what they desire. Many husbands have used it as a control measure. That’s not what it is meant for. In fact, it is for unity and not for control.”

Writing further on her Facebook wall, the 70-year-old grandma said:

“Submission in marriages has always been a controversial topic, but what does it really mean?

“As a Christian wife, it is your God-given duty to submit to and obey your husband as both of you submit to one another and Christ.

“While there are many references in the Bible about how a woman should behave in marriage, there are also scriptures that guide men on how they ought to treat their wives.

“Often overlooked, however, is that men are equally obliged to love, nourish and cherish their wives.

“Christian husbands should not abuse their authority. Let the word of God in Ephesians 5:21-25 guide you in leading a peaceful marriage.”

Pastor Zagabe Chiluza is said to have married the first wife before marrying the other four, claiming to have learned about polygamy from the Bible, citing Jacob's four wives as an example.

On Saturday, April 23, Kemi Adetiba and her beau, Oscar Heman-Ackah, held their traditional wedding ceremony and reception, which looked like something out of a movie.


Celebrity guests from Nollywood and the music business descended in force to celebrate the #UndeniablyYours union and were treated to a magnificent event.


It was a night of love songs and, of course, showy dress, with visitors adhering to the couple's fashion brief of 'flamboyantly Nigerian or Ghanaian.'
Kemi Adetiba's first appearance of the day was a stunning green gown designed by none other than Toju Foyeh.
The aoso-oke gown, which paid homage to the bride's Yoruba ancestry and featured crystals, beading, and other embellishments, was gorgeous, but the bride's overly dramatic headwear by Urez Kulture stole the stage.


Bimpe Onakoya, an amazing makeup artist, was on facebeat duty and did not fail as Kemi Adetiba looked magnificent all night.


Sola Sobowale, the 'King of Boys,' was the day's mother, and we trusted her to bring her sparkle, elegance, and presence to the event as she escorted the bride to her grand entrance.


With their performances, 2Baba, Adekunle Gold, Simi, and others kept visitors dancing all night. Guests were kept dancing all night long by performances by 2Baba, Adekunle Gold, Simi, and others, who sang some of their hit songs.


Shaffy Bello, Banky W and Adesua Etomi, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and his wife Cynthia, the Demurens, Waje, Toke Makinwa, Debola Williams and his wife, Lynxxx, Efa Iwara, and many others graced the #UndeniablyYours event with their presence.


Kemi also paid homage to her Cross-River roots by wearing a red and gold Toju Foyeh gown with all of the Calabar bride's accoutrements.


The couple's last look for the evening transported them to Ghana, where the groom was born, as they danced the night away in white and gold costumes.

Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to engagements, but her most recent one may have been the wettest of them all.

“Did you ever imagine your biggest dream could come true?” she wrote in the latest edition of her “On the JLo” newsletter. “Saturday night while at my favorite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed. I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again, I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘Is that a yes?’ I said YES of course that’s a YES.”

Her comments on their engagement come just a few days after the news was first reported. “I was smiling so big and tears were coming down my face, feeling so incredibly happy and whole,” she continued. “It was nothing fancy at all, but it was the most romantic thing I could’ve ever imagined… Just a quiet Saturday night at home, two people promising to always be there for each other. Two very lucky people. Who got a second chance at true love.”

The couple announced their engagement last week, and as they noted at the time, this is their second time being engaged. They were previously set to marry 18 years ago, when they were affectionately referred to as Bennifer. 

The two superstars rekindled their romance shortly after Lopez broke off her engagement with Alex Rodriguez in 2021. The couple first met on the set of their 2001 film, Gigli. Last month, they reportedly purchased a $55 million home in Los Angeles, which has since fallen through.

After an awesome night and a little tequila, a queen and her handsome king ventured out to the only open chapel with an Elvis and was married at 2 a.m. in a place far, far away (Las Vegas) (with no license).
It is said that practice makes perfect.


The couple, who eloped to Vegas after the Grammys in the early hours of Monday morning, had a wedding ceremony officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator.


Despite the fact that the ceremony was not legally binding because they have yet to receive a marriage license, Kourtney spoke out about it on Instagram, saying that practice makes perfect.
