Rita Dominic, a seasoned actress from Nigeria, has discussed how the UAE visa ban almost cost her her wedding gown.
Last weekend, the Nollywood actress wed Fidelis Anosike in a lavish white wedding in Yorkshire, England.
The
47-year-old actress describes how the UAE restriction almost caused the
wedding to fail in a recent Instagram post intended to express her
thanks. However, her designer, Michael Nardi, went above and above to
make sure the occasion was a success.
Dominic‘s post on IG is coming after the UAE, through its licensed travel agents in several countries, announced the stoppage of visa issuance to Nigeria and 19 other countries.
She wrote:
“Thank God for a beautiful weekend full of love and joy.
Thank you to @micheal5inco for making my dream wedding gown.

As they wait for the birth of their first child together, NBA player Paul "PJ" Washington Jr. and his fiancée Alisah Chanel engage in some flirting on Instagram.
Brittany Renner, the mother of PJ's son, admits she is using a new method of birth control and that she will need to get married before she has any more children.
More inside...
Paul "PJ" Washington Jr. of the Charlotte Hornets is ready to become a father once more!
Additionally, he is getting ready to walk down the aisle and propose to his girlfriend, Instagram beauty Alisah Chanel.
He is ecstatic, that much is evident.
Alisah took a few pictures of her expanding tummy and posted them on Instagram as she prepared for the baby's arrival.
Many people thought that once PJ received a portion of his $12 million NBA deal, Brittany "trapped" him into paying child support.
But according to Brittany, she has never been motivated by it.
On the Tonight's Conversation podcast, she dispelled rumors that she was receiving $200,000 per month in child support payments by stating that she only receives $2,500 per month from PJ.
”Big mama,” she captioned on IG Stories.
For her timeline caption, she tagged her picture, “Natural,” with a black heart emoji.
PJ hopped in her comments to post five engagement ring emojis.
”baby zaddddy,” she responded to PJ.
”Husband*,” he corrected her.
As you may remember, PJ and Alisah Chanel began dating in September 2021, not long after he split from Brittany Renner, the mother of his baby and Alisah's former friend."You can't rely on your child's father to provide for you," she said, "I never been about money. I provide for my child. I get $2,500 a month."
In August 2022, PJ popped the question to Alisah:
African women are thought to be emotional and vulnerable, but singer Timi Dakolo has refuted that notion on social media.
He tweeted:
“The next time you see a man cry, please don’t tell him to stop crying. Don’t throw in “ you are a man , you shouldn’t be seen crying”. Vulnerability is not exclusive to the women . For emotions are like energy and energy must be expressed, less it kills the host. Strong men cry.”

Anita Adetoye, a.k.a. Anita Brows, has said that she is unable to date anyone who is in a lower tax category.
In a podcast with media personality Stephanie Coker, the cosmetics artist and ex-wife of actor Emmanuel Ikubese (Former Mr. Nigeria) made this claim.
She talked of a fake relationship she previously had with a man she believed to be her age.
Anita went on to say that successful women are the ones that most Nigerian guys seek since they seem to be doing well for themselves.
She continued by saying that many Nigerian guys are skilled at "padding things up" to the point where a woman can start dating them and then fall in love with them.
She said,
“Being a Nigerian, I have learnt that a lot of men go after women that look like they are doing well and her making more. Men aspire to be with women like that, even though they are doing well themselves. Nigerian men know how to package themselves to make you fall for them.”
According to her, love alone was not enough reason to enter a relationship. She said:
“You can’t really use love to enter a relationship. I guess I am speaking from experience.”
While addressing a question on whether she can date a guy below her tax bracket, she responded;
“Anything below, I can’t really do that anymore. I feel like I have dated someone because they were levelling up in their life but it was just facade. Yea, I cannot.”
Many believed that Anita was hinting at the cause of her marital break-up.
For Rita Dominic Anosike's white wedding in April of this year, we wouldn't settle for anything less than a fashion show. Rita Dominic Anosike wore the most stunning bridal outfits.
Congratulations to Ben Platt and Noah Galvin!
The “Dear Evan Hansen” are engaged — this they confirmed on their social media on Friday.
Platt posted a collage of photos to celebrate the engagement, with a caption that said: “He agreed to hang out forever.”
Galvin also shared the same images to his own Instagram account, with the caption, “I said yeehaw and then cried for like 7 hours.”

Social media users who follow the 44-year-old have been privy to her self-love journey.
Tia has published motivational articles about happiness, self-love, and self-care throughout the past few years.
There were also some sweet times with her family interspersed.
The Homecoming actor Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4, are two of her two kids with the All-American.
She began counseling after taking stock of her life and discovered that she was experiencing some sadness.
“I feel like when I started to, again, like I said, focus on myself, but there was this sadness.
Tia Mowry offers a novel perspective on divorce.
The
Sister, Sister star appeared on TODAY with Hoda & Jenna and spoke
candidly about her divorce from Cory Hardrict, explaining why she views
it as a "graduation" rather than a failure.
“I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness,” she said when asked when she believed her marriage was over. “I feel like women, we tend to focus on everybody else’s happiness, making sure that everybody else is okay — meaning our children, our friends, our family."
“But at the end of the day, it’s about self-love. When you start to really work on yourself, love yourself, know your value and know your worth, then all of a sudden, there’s this awakening. And it’s not easy. It’s a hard journey, but at the end of the day, I feel like it is so, so worth it.”
And I knew that life is short,” she said. “I had actually lost my grandmother. We had lost Alaina Housley (Tia’s twin sister Tamera Mowry Housely’s niece who was killed in the 2018 California mass shooting.) And both of them at the same time.”
She continued, “There was just an 'aha' moment in me where I said, ‘You know what? We need to tap in, see what’s really going on with your happiness. Life is short. Let’s go. Let’s start working on you and really focusing on what really, really matters here, which is at the end of the day, your peace, your joy and your happiness.’”
After filing the day before, on October 4, Tia made an Instagram announcement about her divorce from Cory.
Irreconcilable differences were listed as the cause of their marriage's dissolution in the divorce papers.
The Game actress, however, is looking at the end of her marriage through a different lens.
“My marriage was a success. I look at it as like a curriculum when you’re in college or high school. You’re learning, you’re growing, you’re evolving, you’re creating. I was able to create with Cory some beautiful, amazing children,” she explained. “At the end of that curriculum, there's a graduation, there’s a celebration. So that’s basically how I’m looking at it now.”
“And I feel like ... when (people) look at marriage, success equals longevity. But, no, at the end of the day, it’s are they happy? Are they thriving? Are they growing? I feel like that is what is most important. It’s not about staying in something because however long you are in that situation that equals success. It’s about really, again, are you happy? Because life is really short.”
Tia and Cory were married for 14 years.
Her mother, Melinda French Gates, in the comment section of the post, expressed joy at the news, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited to meet this little one and watch you two become parents.”
Simon Guobadia, a billionaire Nigerian-American businessman, and Porsha Williams have now become husband and wife, making her the new Mrs. Guobadia.
The couple, who were also Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members, tied the knot in a grandiose Benin wedding, a traditional Nigerian ceremony.
On Friday, November 25, the newlyweds' first of two ceremonies—the traditional wedding ceremony—was held for Porsha Williams, 41, and Simon Guobadia, 57.
The first wedding held at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta, while the second wedding — a custom American ceremony — will take place on Saturday, November 26. The Atlanta ceremony took place in front of 250 guests. Ahead of her nuptials, Williams told PEOPLE Magazine, “I am ridiculously excited. I am just so ready. I’m not even nervous. I mean, I know I’m marrying the love of my life, and it’s just going to solidify our relationship and our family bond. I’m calm and excited.” Meanwhile, Guobadia said, he just “a little nervous.” Williams said she was also “anxious” about her seven wardrobe changes she has planned between her two weddings. She said she “couldn’t turn any dresses down,” and her weddings will be “a true fashion extravaganza.” For her Nigerian wedding, Williams had three outfit changes, and even “personal chose the fabrics” for the traditional attire for her family. She said, “I should be a stylist after this!” See photos and videos below.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum, 41, and the Nigerian-born billionaire, 57, wed again in Atlanta on Saturday in a second, American wedding organized by Eliana Baucicault of Elly B events, after exchanging vows on Friday in a traditional Nigerian native law and custom ceremony.
350 people, including fellow Housewives stars Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Monyetta Shaw, Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora, and Cynthia Bailey, attended the day's opening ceremony in a Methodist church.
Comedian Rickey Smiley, Karlie Redd from Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, Quad Webb from Married to Medicine, Jennifer Williams from Basketball Wives, and T.I. and wife Tiny Harris were also present.
Tasha Cobbs Leonard performed "For Every Mountain" with a gospel choir and a 40-piece orchestra as Williams was led down the aisle by her brother Hosea Williams III while wearing a white lace Frida ballgown.
“I definitely want the Lord to be in the place,” Williams told PEOPLE ahead of her nuptials. “I want the Holy Spirit to usher us into being a husband and wife. I’m from the south, so I love being in church. I’ve never been married in a church, and Simon’s never been married in a church, so it’s going to be a new experience for both of us.”
Though they also had a ceremony the night before, the couple waited to exchange their wedding bands until they met each other at the altar on Saturday.
“We call each other ‘hubby’ and ‘wifey’ all the time, but now it’s going to be official, so I think I’m going to cry,” Williams said. “Simon says he’s not going to cry, but he’s cried at home when we just talk about our relationship, so I think he’s going to cry. I think we have a silent bet.”
In order to win the “silent bet,” Guobadia said he’s going to bring “sunglasses” with him to the altar.
“Crying? No, that doesn’t happen to a Benin man!” joked Guobadia, who grow up in the Benin City of the Edo State of Nigeria.
Standing by the couple’s side on the big day was Williams’ bridal party, consisting of her sister Lauren, who served as her maid of honor, her best friend Shamea Morton, who served as her matron of honor, and her bridesmaids.
Williams’ daughter Pilar Jhena, 3, with ex Dennis McKinley and Guobadia’s children also had a special role in the ceremony. (Guobadia has kids Quentin, Nicole, Christian, Benjamin and Ximena from previous marriages.)
“Pilar is going to be a flower girl, and her dress is so cute, I could’ve copied it for a wedding gown,” Williams said. “Then my niece, Baleigh, my sister’s daughter, is going to be another flower girl. Our daughter, Ximena, is going be a junior bridesmaid. Our sons, Christian and Benjamin, are going to walk my grandmother down the aisle. Simon’s oldest son, Quentin, is going to walk him down the aisle.”
After the ceremony, Williams changed into a gown by Albina Dyla for their reception ball held at the St. Regis Atlanta. The space was decorated in cream and nude colors. There, guests were also treated to a surprise performance by the R&B group Dru Hill.
“I really wanted to hear the song ‘Beauty Is Her Name,'” Williams said. “I have always thought about having on a wedding dress and dancing to it. And then my husband would say, ‘Beauty Is Her Name.’ I love Dru Hill and am so glad the whole group is back together.”
Williams said the cake at the reception was going to be “so tall” that she’d need a “sword” to cut it.
“If extra was a bride, it’d be me,” she said with a laugh. “I promise you I did not know that I was this extra.”
Throughout the remainder of the night, Williams changed two more times: first, for the bouquet toss, and then again for the after party. For each outfit, she also changed her wigs, all by her brand Go Naked.
“I thought, ‘Why not? It’s my last wedding forever,'” she said.
Like they did on Friday, the couple asked for guests to go unplugged for the duration of the celebration.
“It’s important for me because I’ve had another big event in my life before, and all I remember seeing was flashing lights and pictures being taken every single minute,” said Williams, who was previously married. “I just really want people to be in the moment. This guest list, everyone there was handpicked by the both of us. These are people that we care about, these are people that we love, people who have supported us, and we really want them there to feel their energy and for us to celebrate our love together.”
Williams and Guobadia’s Friday ceremony was all about celebrating the couple’s shared Nigerian ancestry. At the Four Seasons Atlanta, they were joined by 250 guests.
While heading down the aisle with his bride, the angry groom struck a guest who had sprayed him with cash. A groom and his beautiful wife entered their wedding in a grand fashion, as shown in a viral video going around on social media.
However, a wedding guest caused a scene when he showered the groom with cash, which he clearly declined with a gesture. The visitor's second effort was met with a kick from the future husband, who appeared enraged. As other guests hurry to put out the flames, the guy who appeared to be up for a fight shoved the celebrant back.
