Teyana Taylor Paid Her Ex $70,000. The Interesting Part Was Why.

 

A Georgia court ordered Taylor to pay $70,000 toward Iman Shumpert’s attorney fees after finding she violated the confidentiality terms of their 2024 divorce judgment. 

Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert's marriage ended in 2024 after nearly eight years together. They share two daughters, and although the divorce was finalized, the legal story did not immediately disappear.

In 2025, the former couple became embroiled in another dispute over confidential details from their divorce.

Taylor accused Shumpert of leaking information about their divorce to entertainment blogs. Shumpert denied the allegation. 

The court ultimately found Taylor in contempt for violating the confidentiality provisions of their divorce judgment, while finding insufficient evidence to establish that Shumpert had leaked the information.

The result?

Taylor was ordered to pay $70,000 toward Shumpert's legal fees.

And Taylor later described the payment as money well spent because she felt it bought her peace and an end to the dispute
