Miriam Ogbonna shared her thoughts on marriage and family planning.
In a post she shared on her social media handle, the movie star said she doesn’t think it’s wise to have a child during the first year of marriage.
According to her, the first year of marriage should be for the couple getting to know each other better, and bringing a child into the mix too soon could be overwhelming for a new union.
She wrote:
“I don’t think it’s wise to have a child during the first year of marriage though. I feel that’s the time to get to know your partner better.
Bringing a child into the mix could stall that process and might be too overwhelming for the new union. Just my opinion though…”
Miriam’s tweet sparked mixed reactions online. While some agreed, noting that a child in the first year can dramatically change your life, others felt it depends on individual circumstances, like cultural expectations or personal goals.
One married man added that unless couples have lived together for at least a year, it’s better to spend the first year focusing on each other before welcoming a child.
